January ’11

This has been very late, but as such, comes with a whole lot of new music!

  • Hold It Against Me – Britney Spears ; FINALLY! New Britney music!!! Also, some pretty awesome new Britney music to boot. The music video is still forthcoming, but I’m super excited to see what’s in store for the new year!
  • Rollerblades – Eliza Doolittle ; I’m starting to believe that my favorite music these days comes from the pick of the week on iTunes. She was featured, and instantly found a place in my library among all my favorite British songsters.
  • Whip My Hair – Willow Smith feat. Nicki Minaj ; You all thought this song was over, but oh no! This remix with a verse by Ms. Minaj is everything the first version was and more. Equally as awesome in it’s own way.
  • Magic Works – The Weird Sisters ; So this is an oldie but a goody. This wrock song was written for the Goblet of Fire movie, and since I’m reading that book currently, this song keeps getting stuck in my head. It is very reminiscent of 80’s rock ballads in ever cheesily awesome way.
  • Marathon – Tennis ; In the same vein as Eliza above, this duo is super cutesy and indie. The sound may be uninspired, but it is still very entertaining.
  • What The Hell – Avril Lavigne ; Avril has been gone way too long. I’m so glad she’s back. Admittedly the least personal song on her album promised to be full of personal acoustic songs, this dancey pop song is not without it’s value and appreciation. Meaning it is my new shower anthem for the next year.
  • Dancing Crazy – Miranda Cosgrove ; I am the biggest Miranda Cosgrove fan over 18. I am not ashamed, she is cute and funny and adorable, and I will get all of her products. Team Manda 4 Eva!
  • Who Owns My Heart – Miley Cyrus (Rock Mafia Remix) ; As a newfound Miley fan, I didn’t really care about the normal version of this song, but Rock Mafia has turned it into a seductive club banger. I request this every time I can. Received with weird looks, for the most part
  • Hold Sass Against Me In The Deep – Britney, Adele, and Kat Graham ; Actually just a mash-up, the personally titled song is really awesome. It is one of the rare mash-ups that actually works incredibly well. You can find this on on Youtube.
  • My Body – Young the Giant ; Indie rock at it’s finest. Also a free pick on iTunes, this song is catchy and fun. And also includes lyrics taken out of my correspondence with my therapist about my mind/body conflict.

1/29 – One last song for the list, I found it stuck in my head for some odd reason

  • Back to December – Taylor Swift ; Do I need to explain? It’s just cute and makes me feel like I’m in middle school again. And it’s about regret, my favorite feeling.
