October ’10

I’m a little late getting to this, but only because I was finding the best new songs! Here we go:

  • Toxic
  • Stronger
  • Slave 4 U
  • Baby One More Time
  • Me Against The Music – Glee Cast ; If I wasn’t so behind, I’d do an individual evaluation of each one. But to keep it concise, I’ll say this: bravo!
  • Shake Your Pom Pom – Missy Elliott ; This is an old song, but I only just recently heard it at a party I went to. It makes me want to shake.
  • Just A Guy – BC Jean ; My mom came to visit last week and when we went out to eat at Applebees, this song was on. Who knew Applebees had such a good playlist?
  • My Boyfriend’s Back – Paris Bennett ; A new pop-y take on an old classic. I heard this song for the first time in my friend’s car on our way to after-show McDonalds.
  • Runaway – Kanye West ; To be completely honest, I bought this song just because I thought the cover art was so good. The song itself is good too, but man. That cover art.
  • Na Na Na – My Chemical Romance ; When I was in the 7th grade, these people gave me nightmares. Now I get it! Sometimes, a boy’s gotta rock.
  • Raise Your Glass – P!nk ; This song is SOOOOO AWESOME! Instant hit! My current anthem. I geek out over it. In public.
  • Ambitions – Joe McElderry ; I recently reintroduced myself to UK pop, and am so glad I did! Joe won the X Factor last year, and this is his first original single. I fell in love with him (and the song) when I watched him perform it on the X Factor this past week.
  • The Flood – Take That ; Fitting right in with my British trend, we have the reunited boyband of one of my favorite Uk artists, Robbie Williams. He clearly dominates the group (like Beyonce in Destiny’s Child), but that is just fine with me.
  • The Masquerade – Melee ; I first found out abut these guys when they had a free single on iTunes – only I didn’t like it. I went to the album page and found this one, and I was overcome. I live for this song. L I V E
  • Sexy Silk – Jessica Cornish ; Just as the name implies, this song is sexy and smooth as silk. She also rocks some mad vocals. Listen for it in Easy A!
  • One Of Us – Glee Cast ; This episode was a roller coaster for me. Only a couple times has Glee left me so exposed. The first time it was with Keep Holding On. This was one of those times.
  • Happy Days Are Here Again/Get Happy – Glee Cast ; Again, this song struck a note with me. Sometimes, you just gotta forget your troubles. Come one, get happy!

That’s it for now. I have a feeling lots more are waiting to be added. Check back for more!

The final additions for October are:

  • Poison – Nicole Schezinger ; This is without the rest of the Pussycat Dolls, but to be honest, it sounds just the same. Did the other girls even sing? Anyways, this song is real cool.
  • Whip My Hair – Willow Smith ; FIRE!!!!! THIS SONG IS FIREEE!!!!!!!! My neck/vertebrae will never be the same.
  • Men In Love – Gossip ; I forgot how I happened upon this song, but it simple and rollicking. I like it. The lyrics/video are/is cute too.
  • Check It Out – Nicki Minaj & wil.i.am.
  • Right Thru Me – Nicki Minaj
  • Bottoms Up – Trey Songz & Nicki Minaj ; I group the above three because I have been listening to them in anticipation of Nicki’s debut album, Pink Friday. From what I’m hearing, it’s going to be great!

That’s it for this October. Next year, I’ll have to feature my special playlist I listen to during Halloween week.
